A Mill Risk Assessment (MRA) is a systematic process to identify, analyze, and evaluate potential risks associated with the operations and supply chain of a palm oil mill. It examines the origin of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) to ensure traceability and deforestation-free sourcing, while also assessing legal compliance and key social and environmental risks.
By leveraging advanced geospatial analysis, MRA identifies suppliers operating in sensitive areas such as protected forests or peatlands. The outcome is a clear, actionable risk profile for each mill — enabling strategic sourcing decisions, audit readiness, and compliance with regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), while strengthening supply-chain resilience and responsibility.
The MRA methodology evaluates sustainability and compliance risk levels based on NDPE (No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation) and EUDR principles. By integrating global mill data, Traceability to Plantation (TTP) records, and spatial–document analysis, MRA provides a transparent, verifiable framework to determine each mill’s compliance performance.
