GHG Traceability

The GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain (GHG Scope 3 Standard) provides a globally accepted framework for managing Scope 3 emissions. This standard emphasizes the importance of comprehensively assessing and managing GHG-related risks and opportunities throughout a company’s value chain. Companies can prioritize accuracy by using precise data and calculations for activities that significantly contribute to emissions.

Inovasi Digital has developed specialized expertise in the complex field of supply chain traceability. We pride ourselves on employing advanced methodologies, such as the land management unit scale and harvested area scale method. This approach offers unparalleled precision in accounting for the practices of individual suppliers. However, we recognize that not all companies have access to such detailed data sources, particularly those sourcing land-based products. Acknowledging this challenge, we are committed to innovation by developing solutions that address a diverse range of needs.

We have a goal to bridge the gap between data availability and accuracy, ensuring that even companies with limited access to specific data sources can benefit from our expertise. Through strategic partnerships, advanced technology, and a dedication to excellence, we are transforming the landscape of supply chain traceability and sustainability, one step at a time.

What will you get
  1. GHG Land Sector and Removal

Direct land use change emissions, primarily from carbon stock losses due to recent (past 30+ years) land conversion, occur directly on the land a company owns or controls, or on specific lands within the company’s value chain. Companies are required to use a 30+ year assessment period to account for land use change emissions. Inovasi Digital’s calculation data comply with these requirements, as they cover the necessary 30+ year period. We utilize remote sensing-based calculations and direct measurement methods to analyze various land management practices on specific harvested areas.

  2. GHG (CH4) Field Measurement on Mills (POME)

To achieve comprehensive GHG measurement through a data-driven approach, field-based GHG measurements are highly recommended. During the extraction of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) from Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB), a significant amount of water is required, resulting in the generation of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). POME contains various harmful materials, particularly methane (CH4), which pose environmental risks. Therefore, it is essential to treat this effluent before its release into the environment.

Inovasi Digital employs a nondispersive infrared (NDIR) sensor as a gas detector for accurate CH4 measurements at specific locations. Quantitative analysis is used to calculate the monthly CH4 emissions produced from POME, enabling companies to report their GHG emissions from their supply chain accurately.

  3. GHG Assesment on Company's Value Chain

With years of dedicated work in this domain, we have honed our skills and amassed a wealth of traceability data from numerous sources, including our proprietary datasets. Our approach is founded on gathering primary data, sourced both internally from a company’s operations and directly from value chain partners, such as suppliers and customers. This collaborative effort enhances transparency and empowers businesses to accurately account for their Scope 3 emissions at both upstream and downstream levels. The effectiveness of our data collection efforts depends on the depth of traceability within a company’s value chain and the strength of their relationships with partners.
